Soooooo,
I've been posting quite a lot but just realized I've never properly introduced myself.
My name is Gabriel, I'm 29 y.o., moved to Edmonton about a year ago and from what I've seen here, I'm apparently the only non-canadian regularly posting/following this forum (please, correct me if I'm wrong).
I was born in Brazil and have lived in a couple of cities around there: my hometown, Juiz de Fora, a big-ish 700k city which is a major regional centre in Brazil's southeast, being roughly in the middle of Brazil's 3 largest metropolitan areas: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte (the smaller of which is about the size and population of Toronto metro). I lived in all of those cities, plus a few months in NYC and roughly a year in Houston - TX.
If I happen to meet any on you in person, you'll notice that I have a remarkably strong British accent, which is weird, I know and I don't need anyone to point out.
Me and my wife moved here for her PhD in Chemistry at the U of A about a year ago and we've fallen in love with Edmonton, since then.
I currently work at a Money Mart down on Argyll road, (but I'm on the market for a better gig if anyone knows anything going on for Economics majors). I'm also a specialist in Applied Finance and a current MA in Economics student.
Back in Brazil I used to be a consultant for a Deloitte, working with financial risk and, most importantly, big infrastructure projects with the National Economic Development Bank of Brazil.
My interest in urban development, architecture, urbanism and all this generally probably started from playing SimCity since I can remember being able to play something and led me to participate in civic groups and organizations in all of the cities I lived in, which brought me close to several people from whom I learned quite a lot.
I've spent most of last year and a half (which is when we found out we'd be coming to Edmonton) learning about the city: it's history, landmarks, culture, environment, everything and anything I could get my hands on to read, watch and visit, so that I can feel like I truly belong here (and frankly, to me it seems like I've been living here for decades, already).
I really wish I can contribute not only to the forum, but to the city as well!

Not sure what's available for Econ majors, especially given the current state of the economy, but our two big banks, ATB and CWB, are often looking for people. Deloitte's local office is looking for people, too, might be something up your alley?

We are hiring for a late spring start-up (2021) for two new companies headquartered out of Edmonton -- COVID cramped our plans for this year so we are looking at next year as a more reasonable initiation date.

Hey all! My name is Matthew, and I'm a 21 year old student at the University of Alberta. I'm majoring in Political Science and minoring in history. Outside of school, I work part time at a grocery store and am an executive in a couple of youth organizations. One of my hobbies is editing local Wikipedia pages to increase the quality of our content. Most of the photos I'll post here have been taken for Wikipedia. I'm not really sure what else I can say, but I'm happy to be here 
One request I do have is that the folks in charge consider adding a section to discuss communities in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. I'm originally from Fort Saskatchewan, and while it's obviously too small to have its own forum, it'd be nice to have some space where we can talk about what's going on there, and in communities like St. Alberta, Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, etc. Sorry if I shouldn't mention it here, I don't think I'm allowed to make my own thread in the general discussions area yet and I'm not sure where else to post it.

Welcome to the forum! @Daveography can correct of I'm wrong, but we're open to discussing Edmonton area as a whole, there's quite a few projects from St. Albert and Sherwood Park, mostly because I think the majority of the members are from Edmonton proper or these two places, but we welcome anything that is relevant to the Edmonton region!Hey all! Hey everyone. I'm Nick, mid 20s, sales guy, grew up just a few blocks down from Concordia college. Took some real estate and an urban planning course at the U of A, and then it combined with an existing c2e membership and too much time on my hands at a gov't job lead me to becoming real interested in development.
Mostly though, I just love watching Edmonton grow and evolve.
