General Food & Dining Thread

Went to Bundok Wednesday for my bday. Been a while since I've been there, keeps winning all sorts of awards but I never think of it. Food and service was great, had the hen, gnocci, cauliflower and olives. They had a large party booking and all other tables were full when I left. Small place but happy to see it busy.

Never heard of or been to.....was it any good? Looks/looked a little too paper-baskety for my liking......
Live music venue that served pizza, etc.—more a bar than a restaurant. Losing it is a bigger hit to the live music community than to the foodie scene.

Brew Ville (on 82 Ave near Bonnie Doon Mall) is closing at the end of the month. The owner will continue to deliver coffee to his loyal patrons.

Went to Playright in the Citadel last night. Fantastic braised beef dish. Everyone else in our group liked their food. Service was great. Space isn't the most amazing atmosphere imo but would recommend it for pre or post-play or concert dinner.

Glad it worked out for you, we had just an awful experience there a few months ago. Tow of us went on a reservation just before 6, ordered promptly. Took over twenty minutes just for olives and drinks to arrive. They were out of glasses. That was the last thing we were served in the ninety minutes we were there. Left without having been fed to make our play just in time, they made us pay for the drinks and olives, and really didn’t offer anything as an apology or willingness to do anything to get us back.

I hope it works out for them, want that space to be activated, but tough to see me wanting to go back.

^That's really unfortunate.
It really was, I’m a forgiving guy too, it doesn’t take much. But we got zero, and I mean zero communication from our server that things had gone that badly. No manager even sniffed near us. Had they said, this was a terrible night, drinks are on us and here’s a $50 gc, please come back, all would be good. We were just treated so……apathetically I think that’s what still bugs me. I get stuff happens, and I didn’t need much in that case.

  • It looks like Home and Away in the Mercer Warehouse will be rebranding into The Alfred Bar.

Home and Away always appeared empty when I walked by.
