^^A bit of a double-whammy, too, I suppose, of millennials aging out of the club scene and Gen Z being more of a homebody/sober cohort.
With increasing costs for accommodation in particular and not so increasing incomes, some things have to go and it seems that would include high cover charges and expensive drinks.

We shouldn’t be celebrating the demise of nightlife, in my opinion. Lively cities need nightclubs and we don’t have a lot left. Just because something isn’t your cup of tea doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist.
I'm upset about the demise of nightclubs, too, but in my opinion the best sort of nightlife is egalitarian in spirit (think of the iconic Berlin nightclubs, for example)—which this bottle service-focused model is decidedly not. Aside from that, I think Reign's appearance feeds into an idea of Edmonton as a tacky backwater that we should really try to shed.

  • The folks behind Bianco and Rosso are opening Nero. It will be located in the former Molson Brewery building in the Brewery District, at 12068 104 Avenue.

Excellent, Biano is truly a very good place to eat.

I'm surprised they didn't go with Verde to round out the Italian flag.

^ maybe they are going to have a solo violinist wending his way through customer tables while the steaks char on a lively flame over an open pit with the seven-hills city etched on background walls, patinated shou-sugi-ban-style..
