General Food & Dining Thread

It's not really dt. North Edge where it's always been, but I guess they call it their DT location.

Campio announced they're taking over the former Bierra space in Ritchie Market. (second location)

While the relative lack of big chains with street front locations in the downtown area is noticeable here compared to many other cities, it seems the gap is being filled by more local businesses.

I'm especially sorry to hear this, because they had an Instagram post a few days ago saying they were temporarily closed due to a "serious" health issue of the owner.
Yeah, I saw that too, but I was by there today and all of their signage has been scrubbed from the windows.

I hope they're okay. They were putting a lot of energy into the place, and as much as I loved it, I'm not sure that it resonated with the office drones enough to get significant numbers to deviate from their usual food courts. The busiest I saw the place was during Animethon. And they had a few equipment issues during their startup. I'd talked with the gentleman who was usually running things and he spoke of trying a different location, including out in a suburban strip mall and on/near Campus. I'd figured the latter option would be the best choice.

I finally went and tried Olia on Jasper. If you have the funds & the time, give this place a shot. Fantastic food, live music, and the attention to detail obvious in the interior is second to none. Edmonton needs more places like this, let's support them.
When I was interviewing for my current job, the committee took me to Uccellino. It was certainly an effective way of courting me. I still think about that whipped goat ricotta...

^ Curious... was it the goat that was whipped or the cheese. No matter; I guess the outcome would be the same.

Does anyone know what's going on with Tang Bistro in Garneau? It's been closed ('temporarily' according to Google) for a while now, with nothing on their website about why.
