General Food & Dining Thread

Social media posts indicate that Evolution Wonderlounge is moving and will have 2 locations. Replies on Facebook from the ownership indicate that it will be in the recently closed Soho space.

This feels like a great idea.

Went to Kabuki after a show at Metro last night.

We were the only table at 630pm on a Saturday, the room just had random table and chair placement and it felt like we were not supposed to be there.

They used to have a beautiful cherry blossom tree in the middle of the room to break things up, but it's gone and so you literally just have an open room devoid of anything except for a few tables and chairs.

Food was good (if not a bit pricey), service fine, but zero vibe or cool factor. Alas.

Was at downtown O'Byrnes today. There's a couple of glitches (e.g. no Irish stew) but for the most part the food's good and the staff are awesome.

What's your assessment of the downtown O'Byrnes?
It's fine and I'd go back. But it definitely lacks the character of the Whyte Ave location or somewhere like Sherlock's down the street. I can't decide if this is a design issue or if it just needs to age a bit.

My food was good, the beer was reasonable and our servers did a great job.

Putting my designer hat on, it's really just a lighting issue. It's too bright, looks more like a Boston Pizza than a pub.

Ssssooo glad my kid is old enough to be out of little league sports - soccer and softball - travelling to every Podunk town in AB and SK - guess what - your choices for food are either A&W or BP's. I've had enough - "table for 20 at BP's" with that many screaming girls all eating gross food.
