Went to the Ice House last night to watch the Oilers game. Place was probably 80% full with people watching the game. The Arkells concert was happening next door, the whole District seemed pretty lively. Ice House seemed to be much more organized than opening week and was super quick to get food and drink out. There was a decent amount of tables in the back right corner that were empty, despite the long line of people waiting to get in. I suppose they need even more staff for those.

I am under the impression that this will be similar to the Loblaw City Market in the Brewery District.
Guess we'll see for ourselves on Nov 9.

The same owner that closed the fantastic Swiss Chalets in the big buildings on 170th Street and on 51st Ave with REAL mesquite wood to roast the chicken instead of sauce in the gas ovens we see everywhere now. Sad.

Well with this ice in place it makes sense that there is the future fan zone being prepped east of Rogers Place on the Baccarat site.

I believe there will be a large Xmas tree erected on site - similar to Times Square. There were talks of doing it last year, but it changed last minute.

I don't know what to make of the Keg, first given they gave up a good spot near Whyte Ave. Also, not to start an age debate (I am past half a century myself), but the crowd there did seem noticeably on the older side.

I don't know if that was just that location or perhaps the best days are in the past for the Keg.

Not to say you are old, but what do you think bar hopping references in the Ice District is about? It is not us mid-lifers which was why I stated what other entertainment values are there for families, non-drinkers or mid-lifers. THEY DEFINITELY HAVE EVERYTHING DOWN PACT FOR THE YOUTHFUL CROWD TO BAR HOP.

All I was saying was the Keg might not be the best fit based on what I saw when I regularly went by the now gone Whyte Ave location. Sorry that is somehow so upsetting.
