My apologies if this has already been mentioned in the thread, but it sounds like North Shore Bike Park from Vancouver (https://northshorebikepark.ca/) is going to be one of the recipients of the downtown retail grant, and will be opening up an indoor mountain bike park inside ECC.

Not sure which space.

This is 3rd hand information...so take it no more than gossip...but I was told they also applied for the same grant for a similar concept downtown, but it went to North Shore because House of Wheels doesn't sound to be the most reliable operator.

Never heard of House of Wheels before, so I am guessing it doesn't have any existing location downtown or near to downtown.

It was a comment on how bad things still remain and that that particular announcement ain't nothing to bloom about.

Maybe not necessarily a turnaround but steps in the right direction.

The more retail that opens or in some cases reopens, the more people will come here and that increased traffic will benefit other stores here too.

For instance, one person may come to get flowers, but could also shop for shoes while there.

I do think some people, at least those who have recently opened something new here, have confidence that there is enough recovery from COVID levels of traffic now to support some additional businesses here.

Even if the food court on the third floor gets new outlets, that's a sign of more people coming down to the mall.
