Obviously those people who chose to live in Blatchford are probably not that interested in Edgemont. The central location does have some appeal and value, although it comes with pluses and minuses.

The problem seems to be getting it to appeal to more people and there is a limited market for expensive houses that don't look premium.
 
They city is building a baseball diamond for amiskwaciy academy on the future school site!

The dog park is going in another part of Blatchford; the school didn't want it right next to them.

Some kids who grew up on reserves have had bad experiences with dogs. People in Edmonton (and other cities across Canada) dump their unwanted dogs in/near reserves, those dogs form packs and breed, and they can become quite aggressive. People get injured or killed in attacks, diseases are spread, and dogs starve. I've heard of one reserve nearby that recently got a new police station, but they have to park the police cars outside because the garage is full of food to feed the strays.

I have first-hand experience with this too; my family adopted a res dog in 2013, and took years of love and patience before she behaved anywhere close to a "normal" dog. She growled at strangers and snarled at or attacked other dogs, couldn't grasp the idea that her toys were actually hers, didn't know how to play, etc. She got much better after a few years, but the trauma never fully left her; she still had horrible separation anxiety and maintained some "survival" practices (like peeing a tiny bit every few meters during her walks, to mark her territory) all the way up until we put her down this past January. It horrifies me to think about what she went through to have such long-lasting trauma, and I fully understand why the school wanted to maintain that separation. It's one thing for interested kids to go out of their way to interact with dogs; it's another thing completely to set up a scenario where children of all contexts may be exposed to dogs of all temperaments in order to enter/leave their school.

I always liked the look of these and a few years ago I saw one for sale on the MLS website and got to see inside. I wish they’d do more retro stuff like this because the layout and design in there was very cool !! 😎

They can be a bit dark inside because those tinted bubbles in the entryway don't let a lot of light in.

The upstairs was limited in terms of a half bath only and even at that it was easy to hit your head on the slanted ceiling. Some real space limitations upstairs.

Cute on the outside and some neat features, too.
