Blatchford

Any update on Blatchford's first 4-6 storey apartment? Thought this was supposed to be happening this year?

Website still has nothing listed.

The contractor is still waiting for the city to approve a building permit, and has a shoring company on standby. I don't know what's causing the holdup, but I see the guy in charge at the site office every day.

As for the website, the Blatchford office told me they're still waiting for some info from EcoDen before it can be added to the map. Similar reason as to why the infobox for Crimson Cove's apartment is still so baren.

Looks like Metis Housing Corporation is busy prepping to start their building in Blatchford next year. Good stuff!

Unfortunately, I doubt it. The city says there isn’t the demand for it, but development is going to less appealing around there until it’s open.

Well, the city is planning the development of Blatchford and is methodically working it's way in that direction. But it hasn't begun to sevice the land near that lrt station, has it? There is serviced land ready for development closer to the NAIT Blatchford Market stop and it's not exactly seeing a lot of action.

Yes, the city is moving in that direction so hopefully that changes things. But there is no serviced land in Blatchford that is currently close to the Blatchford Gate station, so it will be a few years before any development is in that area.

I do not believe there is serviced land ready for development close to the NAIT Blatchford Market stop that isn't seeing action other than the lands sold to NAIT. There is planning underway for the Blatchford Market area but no rezoning or servicing happening that I am aware of...

Last week I saw this train well past the NAIT station, perhaps they were testing the track or signals?View attachment 693003View attachment 693004
I talked to a rather senior operator after he finished his shift. He said signal testing is already complete and the line is good. This is just stowing extra cars in periods where they are reducing capacity. They will basically build a train of the excess cars, and then run them back to the barn as a single train. Or they will hold them here to add them to trains when they're ramping up capacity.

I like that the land behind the school is all served and ready to go. Connecting to that area better will definitely make the overall development feel more complete. Also I think the new interchange, and roads at yellowhead once done will then encourage development on that end of the overall site. There should be some sort of access on that side which will be more encouraging for those who want to have residential over there.
