Southgate Mall

I would not move to Edmonton unless I would be guaranteed secure, heated and protected underground parking. I can't believe how many people appear willing to sacrifice their vehicles to the hail and ice gods.
Thankfully, we don’t get much hail, let alone damaging hail, unlike Calgary.

But, being able to park in a garage or underground and avoid having to brush off snow or scrape off ice is definitely worth it here.

In this context we are talking about underground parking for commercial developments, which people seem to avoid.

I completely agree in regards to residential, it baffles me how many people park outside just so they can fill their garage/parking stall with crap. Heated underground parking was a key attraction for us when we bought our condo.

We do get hail but very occasionally, however there is another city in Alberta that is well known for having a much bigger problem with this. I park outside at home and there is generally one or two bad rain/ice events per year.

It does take patience and a bit of time to deal with that, but no real permanent damage so far. However, when going out on colder days it is nice to park someplace warm when shopping.

I'd say you have a high tolerance for pain visiting the two biggest malls in the city two weeks before Christmas, but your photos don't seem to show them that busy?

When I also went to Southgate around a week ago it did not seem as busy as I expected either, but perhaps it was a bit early.
