Municipal Politics

Public Spaces Bylaw:

- Spitting in Public, $250 fine.
- Illicit drug use in Public, $25 fine.

🤷‍♂️
Whyyyyyy. They’re not going to pay it anyways. Might as well be $250. But will we actually enforce anything??

Went skating at Churchill tonight and had a half dozen drugged up idiots walking around and messing with trees, lights, signage, art pieces etc. multiple peace and police vehicles in sight plus security at city hall. Nothing happened. Such a joke.

Yeah I was suspicious of TAP when it became the first party to organize and I saw through it, then they combined with PACE.

This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone regarding their views. I don't know what people were expecting with these new political parties that sprung up.

What are you suggesting, death penalty for drug use? This isn't Thailand.
I think life in prison for dealing serious drugs would be a good step. People do serious time for murder. But give fent to 100 people who all die and get 8-14 years? Not to mention all the associated crime with their addictions (assaults, thefts, vandalism).

Cut the branch off near the top. Don’t only focus on leaves.

BUT, in the day to day, we still gotta enforce crap. Like Churchill skating is one of the only places with innocent people trying to have a good time in the public realm of our core DT on a Wednesday. Keep it safe. If you’re not arresting, at least get people moved to the empty gravel parking lots, alleys, and elsewhere. Then screaming threats and vandalizing art at city hall is unacceptable. And we won’t get them all help/houses tomorrow. So we need interim solutions.
