MS|SM - good, not great.
Don't get me wrong here, I am very pleased to see an omakase in this part of the city; it compliments the JW nicely, but I wanted more.
Hits:
- Generally speaking all of the food was quite good
- Our chef was fun, friendly and talkative; he shared the journey reasonably well
- The space is as you would expect Japanese minimalist and nice
- Scallops, crab custard, barracuda and eel were outstanding, with king salmon not far behind
Misses:
- Overall professionalism, care and attention by staff - at the price point (150/per all in) it better be polished; it was not.
- They need to lock or block the interior doors, of which there are 3, to ensure patrons use the office tower entrance and not depressurize and inject a cold wind otherwise.
- When compared to some omakase in Japan that I have been to, the crowd/patrons were not particularly social and the overall feel was not quite what it should be.
- If you are going to share that you are a Michelin * chef, the rest should follow.
We had a nice time, wonderful to see something different Downtown and from all reports it is doing well.
