Bernadette's aims to raise profile of Indigenous cuisine in Edmonton

The owners of the forthcoming restaurant Bernadette's say their previous success with Pei Pei Chei Ow has allowed them to pursue their larger goal of increasing Indigenous representation within Edmonton's food scene — and to do it right in the core.

Tried the new Let's Grill. (10709 Jasper Ave) They now have a sushi train, $2/plate or $20 for AYCE. Between two of us I think it cost $8/person. Crazy cheap. Maki was very tasty. Lots of items you wouldn't necessarily want but great value.

New? did they do renovations? I was there a year or so ago but there was no sushi train (that I noticed)

^New owners. It's now called 'Let's Grill Sushi Train'. Only renos I can tell is the train itself. Hopefully more people hear about it, crazy cheap and pretty tasty.

That's correct. Sounds like they plan on keeping it pretty much the same.

it will be interesting to see how it plays out because Butternut Tree is also looking for an Exec Chef. Feel they are going for more ownership over day to day

Okinawa Onigiri cafe opened today on the old Sequel cafe spot on 102 ave.

Maybe people will find it and support it if they walk or cycle on 102 Ave instead of driving. Amirite?

Or maybe working, visiting and walking around Downtown like we used to do. Sequel was a destination and didn't need a closed 102 ave, but rather traffic of all kinds to keep them open. Let's hope there is an increasing lunch crowd.

With spam being served in almost all of their menu offerings, I somehow doubt they'll last very long.
