Interesting to read that Flair will take delivery of 4 new aircraft by July, taking them to 19 aircraft total. That's a pretty major operation. Also interesting to read that they reported healthy cash flow to the CTA. Flair seems to be doing very well.

Interesting to read that Flair will take delivery of 4 new aircraft by July, taking them to 19 aircraft total. That's a pretty major operation. Also interesting to read that they reported healthy cash flow to the CTA. Flair seems to be doing very well.

Great news indeed. And If I read some reports correctly, they'll add even more aircrafts before the end of this year, and a few more in 2023. I can definitely see Flair becoming a major player in Canadian aviation within the next half a decade or so.

My only question is: as they grow, will they abandon being 100% ULCC and move on to have flights competing directly with Westjet and AC, or will they keep the current profile and trade blows with other ULCC?

I think with 20+ aircraft by end of summer, they will be the 3rd largest airline in Canada.

I suspect they will stick with the ULCC model for quite some time as it seems to be serving them well so far.

Easiest way for Flair Is keep their ULCC strategy and chip away at WS and it’s spawn and AC slowly - wound them by a thousand cuts.

Westjet is definitely vulnerable in the way that Canadian Airlines was vulnerable in the 90s but I think you'll see them continue to deploy Swoop as a tool to contain Flair. Or attempt to.

I agree, but I'm thinking longer term (10+ years).

Very happy for Flair, I dream of the day they build a new hangar and HQ @ YEG. I do think they have a great opportunity to be the large reliable ULCC dominant player in the Canadian market.
