Federal Politics

I'm a Trump supporter and am very happy he won the election in the USA with a diverse coalition that destroyed Harris and the corrupt and out of touch Dems. The American electorate also gave him the Senate and The House because they are tired of all the woke nonsense and being led by polticians that are too focused on niche virtual signalling social issues instead of the economy, security, effective and regulated immigration and creating a successful society based on wealth generation from private business instead of taxing the shite out of everything and growing an already bloated beaurocracy. And I am happy that this same common sense wave will soon take over Canada. Hopefully the UK will follow after Keir "Grooming Gang" Starmer loses the next election there to the Reform Party!! Better days ahead!!
That's a lot of buzzwords.

I think its a good move to announce here. Edmonton centre the most likely. Haven't seen the Stewart interview yet but will tonight. From the excerpts it sound like he is definitely coming in as the outsider. Drop the consumer carbon and go with the same one Alberta had. The big polluters. But he needs to sit down with Alberta's oil patch and work out how to deal with Trumps Tariffs. Maybe help increase overseas exports. It would be nice to get proper value for our oil instead of highly discounted prices. But also work with the forestry sector to maybe help rebuild the industry to be more efficient in the face of the need for our products.

He has to come out of the gate big and bold.

my MAGA loving neighbour is also worried about Carney. The shit thats coming out already.

"Convicted felon" - you mean the ridiculous charges brought against him in the lawfare fiasco by overzealous Democrat DAs spurred on by Biden's DOJ? If Biden wasn't able to pardon his son and his son's laptop (that Biden and MSM all said didn't exist) then Biden would probably be a convicted felon too. Also, Trump's x-posts are classic obnoxious Trumpian negotiation tactics - do you really think he is going to send the marines to invade Greenland? What I think he is doing is some geo-political posturing to get more access to Greenland's bounty of precious metals that are so crucial in AI / Tech development because the USA and China are in a AI development war. I noticed yesterday the PM of Greenland extended an invitation to Trump to have further talks about economic cooperation - doesn't sound like he is too worried about a hostile takeover.
I had you BLOCKED but I am thrilled to have read your last few posts. Great entertainment! Keep bringing them! I haven’t laughed so hard in my life. They say laughter is good for the soul…..lol. Q

Like my two cents that I've seen regarding Carney's Edmonton announcement
- Probably to play up his Western roots. Born in NWT then growing up in Edmonton is a good narrative to have. Our native academic Edmontonian versus a Calgary born blowhard? Let's make this city vs city rivalry national!
- More importantly, a recognition that Canada's political centre of gravity is starting to shift west.

Now Carney running in Edmonton?
- Absolutely insane but I'd love it. It's essentially if Pollievre tried to run in the middle of Montreal Island.
- Wildly bold. If you're going to go big or go home, why not run in the middle of the Conservative heartland.
- Edmonton Centre is the most likely spot, Edmonton Millwoods was close last election but I don't think it's the spot if he does choose to run here. Strathcona and Griesbach are NDP ridings.

He should NOT be competing with the NDP. He should compete with the Cons. For the nation, any competition with the NDP is a zero sum game.

I agree should not go after any NDP seats. Edmonton Centre is the best.

Will be interesting when Freeland enters and if she plays here Alberta Roots and Edmonton Education.

I don't think where you launch your campaign is indicative of where you are going to run. I guess he may run here if elected leader - his dad did in 1980 for the Liberals and came 2nd - but I would bet he picks the riding where he currently lives or close to it. But of course I like that he is launching things here where he grew up.

Interesting that two of the potentially leading Liberal candidates both have Edmonton roots.

If a new leader can turn things around some, Edmonton Centre is potentially winnable again particularly with a high profile candidate, so this is not totally far fetched.

Although I still feel it is a long shot for him to run here, rather than where he lives now, but if it happened it would sure add more excitement, especially here.

Interesting fact - It is tradition for the Liberal Party to alternate between francophone and anglophone leaders, dating back to Laurier. Coincidence he's announcing at Laurier Community League?
Thats close to his boyhood home. I think one or both of his brothers still lives here.

Edmonton Centre is as much an NDP seat as it could be Liberal according to polls.
