I agree -- it should be saved if possible. Is the Heritage Forward group still focused on this (by the way, I like the idea of the group)?
I believe it's going to be relocated inside of the building into the commercial spaces, but here is the approved DP elevation:The relief would be nice to be preserved and put somewhere that it can be appreciated.
They’re subsidized and supposed to be affordable. If it brings people downtown, it’s more than worth it.Nothing swanky at all about this development. The units are TINY and don’t even have in-suite laundry.
Not having in-suite laundry isn't a deal breaker for many people, especially if the rents are reasonable. A lot of older buildings downtown have shared laundry. I've lived in one myself. It's fineNothing swanky at all about this development. The units are TINY and don’t even have in-suite laundry.
Not everyone wants or needs a lot of space and affordability is important to a lot of people. They’re subsidized and supposed to be affordable. If it brings people downtown, it’s more than worth it.
Lots of people don't care at all about in-suite laundry (me included) and I'll gladly pay $300-400 less on a rental unit because of it.Nothing swanky at all about this development. The units are TINY and don’t even have in-suite laundry.
Dishwasher is a must for me, but in-suite laundry can be foregone if there's at least a decent laundry room, or one laundry room per floorI'm actually surprised they aren't fitting out the suites with in-suite laundry. When we built Crawford Block (micro suites) in Old Strathcona there were many that wanted in-suite laundry. It's well known that most renters place in-suite laundry as one of their 'must haves' along with a dishwasher.
I really like that this building is finally being repositioned. I sure hope they are carrying a heavy budget to get that food hall going as it's been a struggle to get much interest in those types of operators downtown.
