Edmonton Riverboat

I cannot wait for the riverboat to set sail again! Maybe this summer?

That’s a bummer. I was just yesterday trying to explain the River Queen to my better half from BC, who had never heard of it, and thought it was extremely comical.

^^^^ I think that it has its genesis from the passenger gambling boats that ply the Mississippi. I don't suspect that there is any deep meaning in the name short of that.

This is the repair to the landing site at Whitemud. They have a lot of remediation to do this year.

Appears to be a large pile driver being assembled for the Edmonton Riverboat landing.

Thanks for the photos!! That looks brilliant to watch. I may go pop by in the nice weather tomorrow and watch from the bridge

^ It was a nice day for sure, did you get to the bridge @nv96?
I lucked out and was in the area so stopped by for a walk & a few more shots today of the work started for the Riverboat moorings @Airboy was discussing in the miscellaneous thread (moved here). I sure hope she will be paddling downstream back to homeport this summer ready for more revellers and romantics out for a river cruise.
There must be something that can be done to safeguard the ship when in storage from the mighty Saskatchewan, how did they manage 100 or so years ago?

This area and boat always remind me of a very popular Nordic type spa I used to go to in Montreal called Bota Bota. Their story is in the link below but they turned an old ferry and port area into a very popular restaurant and Nordic spa.

I would love to see something similar there with this boat if it ever stopped sailing.
