Will also be nice to see more activity for Jasper Ave. From article:

"Further west, a restaurant paying homage to 1970s New York City is preparing to open its doors this summer at Jasper Avenue and 114 Street. Soho will be a restaurant, bar and entertainment venue when it can open to guests. Co-owner Chris Curtola said he’s optimistic they can open in July with limited restrictions on capacity and entertainment."

So that's what that is going to be. I noticed the permanent fencing there the other day.

A question for those who may know:

How come they don't go to flashing yellows/reds for the intersection on non-main roads downtown after business hours or past like, 7 pm?

The warehouse district of downtown especially would be nice to have this. You can get stuck waiting at some surprisingly long red lights while the streets are completely dead. It's annoying enough as a driver, but as a pedestrian it really sucks (and in the winter, it's pure misery). Mostly just makes you end up jaywalking.

because that would make too much sense?

In parts of Downtown S.F lights shift to 15-20 seconds to allow movement on both sides in a timely manner.

It INFURIATES me to no end, especially in winter, that we prioritize climate controlled vehicles over a pedestrian.

Fortunately Edmonton avoided the level of highway construction that could have come if the original highway plan went through. The only freeways we have within the bounds of the Henday are the Whitemud and the Yellowhead (Yellowhead is weird though sort of a half freeway half stroad). Obviously we're still very car dependent but I think that our lack of giant highways (particularly in the central city) means that we have some of the highest potential among car dependent suburban cities to repair the damage.
