They could also use that surplus of theirs, or if the problem persists, raise taxes *gasps* on the wealthy and corporations

It's not being a cynic if its accurate. 100% that's the case.Lethbridge-West by-election (finally) called... for December 18th. The cynic in me thinks that Danielle timed this one to try to hope for low turnout from UofL faculty and students.

EDMONTON – Alberta’s Chief Electoral Officer, Gordon McClure, confirms a writ was issued today to administer a by-election in Electoral Division 72 – Lethbridge-West to elect a member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. Early voting should be able to account for the ill timing.Lethbridge-West by-election (finally) called... for December 18th. The cynic in me thinks that Danielle timed this one to try to hope for low turnout from UofL faculty and students.

I’m not blaming him for anything but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Province’s move was the last straw. I remember spending some time with him and his wife at a fundraiser in Macaulay just after he arrived and was impressed with his approach, his reliance in data more than instinct and his not bringing any sacred cows to the job. I believe he will leave with his integrity intact and the city and the police commission and the citizens of Edmonton - and now the Province - will have a hard time replacing him.Don’t blame Mcfee for retiring……could you imagine doing his job? Dealing with overpaid and underworked cry baby union members and trying to clean up the city, including our downtown with all of the pushback?
Are you a cop? Do you know some of the sh*t some of them go through on a daily basis basically arresting the same people over and over again because the system is faulty and let's criminals walk free? Or do you go to gruesome crime scenes and deal with some horrific things? Don't paint them all with the same brush.Don’t blame Mcfee for retiring……could you imagine doing his job? Just like she only had 6,000 people vote at her leadership review but when they wanted Kenney out, every Tom, Dick and Harry who had a UCP membership could vote.Lethbridge-West by-election (finally) called... for December 18th. I don't know him at all, but I don't think the timing was a coincidence. It is hard enough to juggle being accountable to a bunch of councilors, now add in the province which has some different and conflicting ideas with the city.I’m not blaming him for anything but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Province’s move was the last straw. Yes, I agree the timing was probably partly cynical in the hopes that students who were less likely to support the UCP would be away. I also agree this could be offset by early voting.Early voting should be able to account for the ill timing.
This statement is not an endorsement of her actions. She is a shrewd and cynical politician.
