Advanced Skills Centre | ?m | 4s | NAIT

Granted I'm not in the industry, so maybe there's a reputation, but from afar it looks like Dialog's portfolio is quite impressive, depending on their level of involvement at least. Ice District, Raymond Block, RAM, U of A's NIN, etc.

You caught it; Dialog has a habit of riding other Architects' trains and I have no doubt the same is about to happen with the NAIT Skills Centre. I don't want to sound too harsh -- they were all alone on RAM, for example; the outstanding examples of Architecture in the ICE district belong to others.

Ahh, gotcha. Fair enough then. Either way, as long as GEC is on board and doing their thing, I'm ok with Dialog riding their coattails 😅

Students and faculty in 18 programs at Edmonton’s Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) are facing an uncertain future.

Was definitely political pressure to cut immigration including foreign students due to housing supply issue. About 450 students and 100 faculty are in programs affected by the pause, which could lead to job losses.

There have been preliminary (read ultra-conceptual) renderings shown on this site. The new renderings when they are available will -- I have confidence -- show an outstanding piece of architecture. The Design architect is GEC and Edmonton already has four pieces in the higher educational realm from their portfolio -- MacEwan University School of Business, NAIT's Productivity and Innovation Centre, U of A's Peter Lougheed Hall, and U of A's Central Commons (all well documented on Skyrise). This will be a HUGE boon for NAIT. Dialog will fill the more perfunctory role of "Architect of Record" in the staid role of permitting and drawing production based off of designs.
