The more I look at it the more I think it might actually have turned out kind of alright, maybe? I think those huge glass roofs would have looked pretty great, definitely better than the render seems to suggest. Depending on the exact materials they had planned for the rest of it, I could see it having turned out as quite the nice building.

...or at the very least as quite the unique building.

So slowly but surely the building is coming down but not without a fight. I was talking to a worker on site and he was telling me this little building was built like a bunker. Thick concrete reinforced with plenty of rebar is everywhere in this building. Even the roof has thick concrete. He joked that the building could easily have been a bomb shelter.

So it’s coming down to make room for a “QUAD?” What exactly is that? A green space park like setting?

Yep! It's going to be a greenspace, like a mini park, where students and citizens can hang out. You'll notice Phase 1 was recently completed around the Civic Employees Legacy Tower - all the streetscape was recently redone. The next phase is the demo of this existing building, and then the construction of the "quad".
