I'm so excited for these Yellowhead upgrades to be completed. I was starting to wonder if it would ever happen.

I remember when the Edmonton Humane Society was in a dinky old building just west of 66 and south of the Yellowhead and the city said they could not build an interchange at 66 until after the Human Society moved out. Well, they moved out many years ago and still the Yellowhead remained untouched.

Now it's finally happening!!!

Maybe it's to improve safety. ie. left turning traffic (south to east) won't have to worry about pedestrians crossing.

@Freedm That can be easily fixed with signal cycles. Either way, forcing a person to cross four lanes, TWICE, to keep them from crossing a single lane once is...not a safety gain.

I agree with Dave. In all likelihood the left turn movement will have a protected left sequence, which means pedestrians would not be a confliction anyway.
