O-day’min Park (formerly Warehouse Park)

Hear, hear! Enabling social disorder in the name of compassion is/ has proven wrong. Our public spaces should be safe and accessible. Not breeding grounds for drug dealers and others who take advantage of those who are truly vulnerable. The fact that we, as a society, have allowed this to happen is utterly shameful.

Love the Aurora light.

Went by around 330pm today and counted ~30 kids playing, swinging, rolling, enjoying with that parents and friends; it was incredibly heartwarming to see.

I was by around noon and saw about 15-20 at playground and 5 people and 5 canines at the dog run (wonder what future use at other dog park will be?). A couple of families with kids also playing in the fitness area. Maybe tomorrow there will be zome folks out shooting hoops or on the 11th with warmer weather.

I had to use the washroom. The toilet, sink and paper towel dispenser worked wonderfully. The soap dispenser took a while to spit something out, while the hand dryer barely worked.

Bicycle racks - the only ones I've noticed in this park, although there are more in the east end

I really wish they would remove those concrete barriers for easier access to/from The Parks tower

While acknowledging it is new, if the park has that level of foot traffic as the temperature cools, I can only imagine how popular it will be during the summer.

Here's hoping it becomes a real draw to what was a dead zone.

But it's really going to be something special in, call it 3 years from now, once the LRT wraps up, 106/107st work is complete and we have a few more buildings on its urban edges to make it feel more connected and integrated.

Here's hoping, indeed!
This coming winter will be a big test...
