Miscellaneous

I’m sure it’s a funding thing, but the current capital line extension should be going to 41ave. Why we chopped it up when the need is so evident seems silly.
You have to remember the equity aspect too. The Northwest has wanted LRT for a while, and the South extension was prioritized (to the former’s chagrin) both to address the rapid population growth, but more importantly, because we needed the new OMF to boost capacity for the Northwest extension up to Castle Downs as well. I’m sure there’s less of an appetite for another LRT project right now, but when it does come back, people will want the next 4.5 km LRT extension to be up to Castle Downs, not to 41st Ave SW.

Totally. Just tough to see literally 3000 residents within walking distance to a proposed station and it be 10+ years away.

I think this is why we need to sort out substantial completion to get areas like century park, exhibition, downtown, blatchford, west240, etc all filled in before we add sprawl density that we can’t provide proper services to.

Was at a site meeting at the Edmonton Garrison this week. We were discussing all the work ongoing or coming. One thing lead to another and I mentioned there was a lot more work when it was changed for an Airforce Base to an Army base. It shocked me that they did not know it was that before. IHell the main road the various units use was a runway. Had to explain that Griesback was the army base.

As a base brat who lived in Namao, I am not surprised Army forgot their tank pad was part of a runway. Once was an alternate landing strip for the space shuttle due to its length.
I was helping out for their learn to Triathalon race, I road out and back a few time on the runway. crap is it long.

Also miss the airshow. B1 and B52s flying in.

A nice little 3 storey commercial infill project in Montrose at 6011 120 ave on what is a mini mainstreet on 120 ave. Backside of the building looks out onto Montrose Park. There was previously a smaller mixed use building (similar to the green building next door) on this lot. The only development permit I can find is a little outdated (see below). Initially it was for a 3rd floor expansion to the existing building with a medical clinic as the occupant.

Hat @ 106, eh? Interesting. That wouldn't be their Strathcona one.

There's an empty lot on Whyte & 106, plus there's lots of empty lots on 106 St downtown.
Hmmm....good point....maybe we should be looking at Whyte instead of DT. 106th St could be the One Properties' Dog Park....
