High Level Bridge

There's no way they aren't building a new bridge if that's the cost estimate. There is no way to rationalize rehabbing the existing structure for that cost, especially since the rehab would only get a certain amount of additional years rather than a full life cycle.

We either maintain the existing bridge (not a good option) or build a new one, having both is not a viable option, they create too much visual clutter (3 bridges side by side) and will be expensive to maintain.
Given that the Walterdale Bridge is a tied arch bridge, the new HLB should also have an arch, both bridges would compliment each other nicely. Walterdale and HLB would both have 2 way vehicle traffic and both would have a proper MUP.
The existing HLB and the old Walterdale Bridge were never designed to be attractive. Nobody misses the old Walterdale Bridge.

Nobody ever talks about this in Quebec City for good reason, they look ugly beside each other.
