ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

Anyone know where the satellite garage is supposed to be? Is it an existing space, extension of one, or a new-build facility?
Other than in the Kennedale area, I haven't been able to figure that out yet. I assume it is an existing building, but the guess they could do something like a "temporary" structure like the Ferrier tents.

Anyone know why there have been no reports or updates since September on the Edmonton Transit Service Advisory Board site? They used to be fairly consistent and a really solid source of data.

Perhaps they were busy with the Ridership Improvement Strategies report that was presented to Council earlier this month. Or ETS is trying to manage all the changes with Valley Line finally starting operations.

I'm more miffed that they stopped publishing the annual LRT passenger count report (last version was 2019, so pre-pandemic). It provided a lot of detailed information on the system at the individual station level.

The chance that it is a ETSAB member responsible for updating the website is slim to none. It's most likely a City employee in charge of updating ETSAB and other advisory board pages. Updates to the ETSAB page has been sporadic at best for the last 1 year+.

114 was added this year. 55 & 56 are the full WEM-Meadows route. 106 & 108 were reduced to 60 mins last year. 516 reduced to 60 mins despite being one of the highest productivity routes in the city in almost every time period (Attachment 2 & 6).

The 56 has taken on a lot of 516 riders since it is a more direct option. The question is though, did ETS offset the 516 and 56 to provide 30 minute service between Mill Woods and Meadows?

Heard back from the chair of the ETSAB and she wrote:

"I will raise this issue with the ETSAB admin team who is responsible for updating the online content. There has been some staff turnover for oura dmin support in the fall, and the new person is just starting to be oriented in the role."

My experience with ETS on Christmas day was very good. I parked my vehicle at Stadium Station, walked to the platform and was pleased see 10 minute frequency on the Capital Line.

We rode to Bay/Enterprise, and had dinner at Dagu Rice Noodle (which was very busy). I knew Teddy's would one of the few bars open, so I put the location into maps, and saw that the 2/5 were alternating service every 5 minutes.

After dinner the ride home was just as easy, with an Uber ride home from Stadium Station.

I was expecting to be let down by the service, but I wasn't. The stations were surprisingly busy, the streets were relatively occupied despite most places being closed, and security was quite present in most areas. I was especially impressed by the Jasper Ave bus frequency.

Both the person I was with and myself have ARC cards. We did notice the apparent lack of fare payment by many on the LRT lines. Obviously some people still have paper transfers or passes, so I can't verify each instance, which is the idea of a proof of payment system. The person I was with is a daily user of the System, and we agreed that we'd both like to see fare gates as much as possible.

A tragic incident, and hopefully it's a one-off like what was quoted in the article.

I still can't quite picture how this would happen, since the doors are fairly narrow, there's a crossbar in the middle across the glass, and there's no indication the driver took the corner at speed. Guess I'll have to wait for the investigation report to come out.
This was on a Vicinity. Nice big, glass, single piece door. Plug style too rather than a slide glide style.
