Really happy about this announcement, but yeah as someone who works in healthcare this can’t be understated. We needed an entirely new Edmonton hospital like a decade ago.

I certainly hope SW Edmonton can get some kind of Community Health Centre, even if it’s something like the Northeast CHC.

Comes with the territory of being a public figure, in my opinion. People judge them by their actions. Look at JT and the stickers everywhere in this province. People express their displeasure with elected officials in various ways, often stemming from their actions or inactions. Perhaps Maclac has had a significant negative experience with the healthcare system. They wouldn't be the first. There are countless stories of people dying because of slow care or no care. That rests squarely on the Premier and the UCP, as a hospital was planned and then cancelled.
You could argue that we have reached a point where political discourse is characterized by both sides slinging mud. However, you proceeded to tell someone to "seek help", which is the same thing that Maclac did, guised in "nicer" rhetoric.

And they tend to behave more civilly than some politicians whose behavior has sadly become role models for some adults.
I also would have had a bit more respect for Smith and Polievre if they insisted their supporters remove those offensive bumper stickers that sadly still pollute our city, but sadly many politicians still think rage farming is profitable.

It would probably make more sense now to build a new hospital in the growing parts of the city that are far from the existing hospitals, but fast and cheap are probably the parts that appeal to the UCP.
For decades Alberta prided itself on having above average levels of health care and other services, lower taxes and a budget surplus, but now we seem to be really falling behind many other parts of Canada in services. With oil prices declining, we are going to have an even larger deficit. I feel the UCP is going to soon have difficulty trying to sell poor services and a high deficit to Albertans.
