South Edmonton Hospital & Health Campus | ?m | ?s | Province of Alberta

Oh? I thought the UCP hated all things Health care….are you suggesting they are in favour of Covenant Health?

They tend to speak very highly of Covenant Health, which is a Catholic healthcare provider.

They of course have severely criticized and subsequently dismantled AHS.

And now they are looking to expand the two Covenant Health hospitals in Edmonton which will not provide medical care that does not align with Catholic values (abortion, MAID, etc).

Covenant is moving to for profit health care. (See the Wellness Centre in Millwoods about to open).

They also called Convenant a "competitor" to AHS as if it's a private market.

Making sense is not part of the government mandate.
When Calgary south Campus was built Edmonton should have had theirs done as well. Both cities were growing at the same rate. However Edmonton's healthcare catchment area is considerably bigger.

Well as much as we need a new Southside hospital, the expansion of the Grey Nuns will be good. I hope the add a new entrance around this new tower. North west corner of the tower would be perfect since that would be closest to the Grey Nuns LRT stop.

Sad to see that Edmonton, a city that has probably grown the equivalent of two cities the size of Airdrie, is not getting a hospital, and Airdrie is getting a community health centre.

I’m not sure. I thought there was planning for a new facility in Airdrie.
Airdrie’s urgent care centre opened new space and treatment rooms Sept. 9 after an $8.4-million renovation that the province says will shorten waits and improve infection control.

This is the second of three phases to renovate the Airdrie Community Health Centre, according to a Government of Alberta news release.

The centre handled almost 40,000 patients in 2023-24 and has provided 24-hour urgent care since 2017 for non-life-threatening conditions, the Sept. 16 release said.
