An update to the former NAIT station

Big turnout and success for this transit event over the weekend that began at stadium and took place in Blatchford.

I was there. Fun event where I got to see familiar faces and meet new ones. It’s nice that this group exists so we can voice our ideas for transit more productively than shouting into the void on Skyrise.

Also, I took a jog through Blatchford afterwards to get back to my car. 10 minutes from Blatchford Gate to Airport Road on some nicely landscaped paths.

Hi all,
I visited Edmonton earlier this month and spotted this on the Metro line:

It's obviously not a station, so what's the reason for the roof? Is it there just to keep the trees away from the overhead power lines?
You’re spot on. Giant elm tree canopies above residential streets are a distinct feature of Edmonton’s older neighborhoods, and the tracks run on what used to be a residential street. They wanted to preserve those trees while protecting the OCS so they built that canopy.

I went to Kingsway Mall on the weekend and then decided to ride my bike through Blatchford.

Along the way i overheard a man with his young daughter near the old NAIT station area asking a passerby what happened to the NAIT station as they were looking to get on the train. The good patron let him know he had to follow the walking path and head further north to the new location.

I imagine that has probably stumped a few others who aren't regular transit users.

I was wondering about that for a long time too. It is quite nice and looks like it may have been intended to be a station, but of course it is fairly close to the MacEwan station so maybe that was never the intention.
