I preferred the original plan too, but I believe it was based on this continuing to be retail space. Sadly, this retail space has been empty for 5 years or so now, this is better than what we have now which is nothing.

I hope the attraction of the bank to fill this space will also make it easier to fill some of the other empty retail space in the podium.

I believe this is tied to the CWB (Nat Bank) fit out….

I can't believe the permanent ACE Coffee location in Manulife is STILL not open. They've been operating that 'temporary' coffee bar for a year and a half now...

Will that temporary coffee stand also finally be replaced by a permanent location soon? They already had to redo the sign for it to coming in 2024 and now it is getting close to the end of 2024.

Maybe their popup is doing so well that they'll keep it going!
Maybe, the coffee shack does give a certain vibe to Manulife. Although I'm not sure it is the upscale cachet they are looking for, but perhaps that is long gone.

At this point I feel the landlord is sort of being taken advantage of or strung along if they are not yet paying for the bigger permanent space they were supposed to take.

I take your wording to mean that the landlord now wants them to occupy an entirely different space in the building?

The corner space is nearly built out, but it sounds like the landlord is slowing them down with completion for whatever reason and so it will be a few more weeks.

So they might actually open in 2024 yet?

Speaking of Global articles…..why is Global Edmonton doing Calgary news and weather right now?
