Not really sure what you're getting at here, I'm sure PAL knows their market, but I also know there's a lot of politics around flights, time slot and alliances.So how does KLM make it with no connections or business passengers. Rhetorical question. They obviously do so the connectivity is sufficient and being greatly expanded by WS. PAL are geared towards providing basic fare for people travelling to see family. They have ordered new A350-1000 with a 380 seat configuration with 3-3-3 in economy. If they can’t make it work then whom.
And as PAL is a West Jet partner, odds are WS would try to herd that flight to their YYC hub, much as AC would to YVR.
If there was an unpartnered airline that flew the route YEG might have better chances, working with Flair to get feeder traffic from other western cities.
Pure pipe dream for now of course, but I don't think it's an impossibility..
