ICE District Block IJ | ?m | ?s | ICE District Prop. | Next Architecture

It's a dog park for toys -- a token effort that allows the rest of the site to be retained for surface parking -- money, money, money -- waiting for Edmonton's next BOOM before entertaining anything other than beep-beep/poop-poop.

Such a barren wasteland next to Rogers Place. Even the dog park is empty.

Just a random thought, but I wonder if whatever gets built there will be disconnected from the Pedway network of Edmonton Tower, JW, Stance, Rogers, Connect Centre, etc... Seems like a long ways across the road for a pedway to travel, and would cut right into an office tower.

My bet would be that it will connect through the Arena/Casino, but it would be SUPER cool to see it connect to the Edmonton Tower over 104 Ave

From what I remember the city was reluctant to allow a pedway over 104 avenue but relented for Rogers arena. The chances of building another would be zero.

Yup, photos like this remind me we've got a long way to go before we're no longer the Cleveland of Canada.
Ice District is quite a huge transformation, but it is correct we are only about half way there. Even in a larger city, with much bigger ambitions, it would take a lot of time to build something of this scale.

That the economy went sideways (or worse) here for a few years, probably has slowed it down a bit too. However, I think there is still a strong intention to develop the area north of 104 and Stationlands moving ahead is a good sign this area will be developed over time.

I don't see another pedway being developed over 104th street in this area either, but it could be a good idea.
