While I wanna say that it's a good thing for this hotel that Capital Tower (a.k.a Murder Tower) is gonna be demolished, I also remember all the residents in that tower that are now being displaced without any interim solution that I know of

I have been looking at the same pic of the Coming Soon: Apx Hotel (in front of that lot) sign on my phone for the last 4 years wondering when this project will finally get off the ground.

Buildings are gone and the hotel DP was issued last year, but no building permit has been submitted yet for construction.

Given the mention of a downtown hotel in the other thread, there appears to be some behind the scenes work to get this one moving, which will be good for the area.
