I will never understand the Mech "penthouse' cladding... at least carry the vertical spandrel down to break it up... or use fritting and glass or SOMETHING.

She ain't painted... those are spandrel panels for all intents and purposes.

For sure. It's overall a weird design decision IMO. Put all the time, money and effort to construct one of the most aesthetically pleasing towers in Edmonton, and then put cheesy faux looking panels on the mechanical penthouse that sure stick out like a sore thumb in certain lighting and angles. Must have thought it would be fairly indistinguishable.

I agree, at least continuing the vertical spandrel would do wonders for it not looking so out of place.
