Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

Does "Financial Technology = Call Center to you? To me it doesn't, it's just an overblown exaggeration to pump up YYC's fragile ego and empty AF DT. I have NOTHING against Call Centers, just the verbiage used by the UCP.

the point is that this is an Edmonton forum and most of the time if feels like you care more about what the UCP and Calgary are doing or saying down there than anything.
Who cares what the UCP and Calgary propaganda say? We gotta work and think what Edmonton can do to attract jobs and whatnot.

"Here-today; gone-tomorrow-jobs" benefit no-one.
I agree and we really should not just fall for the hype of other places, so I also appreciate those who look at this more critically. However, the bigger problem now seems to be a lack of jobs in Edmonton as compared to other Canadian cities, not just Calgary. So we need to attract something and a better variety of jobs, especially more white collar ones. Whatever worked in the past is not working now.

This is a huge expansion. To put it into perspective, this is what the current facility looks like:

According to the article:

Komatsu has announced it will double the size of its Canadian parts distribution footprint by transforming its Edmonton, Alberta, parts depot into a full-service distribution centre.
This expansion marks a significant step in Komatsu’s ongoing effort to enhance service levels, reduce lead times and better support dealers and customers across Canada.
The new facility will span about 135,000 square feet, doubling the capacity of Komatsu’s existing warehouse.

Komatsu is currently located in the west end at 18103 111 Ave.

Great news for Edmonton. Although kind of surprised Komatsu didn’t opt to use space in Acheson for it, given their exclusive western Canada dealer SMS Equipment has two massive warehouses there already.

I doubt if there is enough room to expand where they are now, so maybe Acheson will work.
