You know what? I'm still happy with this. It's nice to see that even in recievership, the entities in charge are keeping up with maintenance and ensuring that the mall doesn't decay and become a huge liability for any potential buyers. Plus if the process is dragged out, it'll still be a decent place to visit.

Don't want to burst many bubbles, but the only, ONLY, CAPX dollars that gets spent in receivership will almost always only pertain to life/safety matters, potential legal liabilities. You can bet that the 555-era parking garages aren't exactly paragons of engineering excellence.

Like I said, I'm fine with that. I was worried it'd get completely neglected, so I'm glad that it'll at least be kept in good condition so that whoever buys it can focus their resources on executing their new vision, rather than playing catch up with maintenence :)

Yes, it is good to see the intent to maintain it. I wonder if applying for the permit now is may also be a way to facilitate or make it easier for new ownership to proceed with this.

It would be my perspective that the parking structures at the NW corner of the overall project must be demolished as part of a truly comprehensive redevelopment. Replace with fully underground parking and construct above, akin to what you have at the Ice District. The life expectancy of those 555 parking structures can't be long, especially with the lack of proper upkeep they show. They're pretty ghetto. Not as bad as that Rice Howard way parkade mind you, but enough to cause my risk management mind to be frazzled.
 
I'm actually quite surprised that there hasn't been some sort of movement on the little section between the 102 Street Station of the LRT and the entrance to where the hotel is. That route I see a number of people using including myself when going to Rogers Place for concerts or hockey games. Even a coffee shop or something would be nice to see near the hotel entrance inside the mall.

I am surprised too because this area is busier with the LRT running now. I feel that the financial situation with the mall may be one of the main things that has slowed things down here.
