Edmonton Branding and Tourism strategy

One of my neighbours took this about 6:50 this morning. I said he should license it to Explore Edmonton to which he said they could have it for free.

Where else in the world is this 12 - 15 minutes by foot from downtown?

I believe we are the only city in Canada on that list much to the chagrin of some other cities in Canada that like to boast about their tourist appeal.
As much as I like to think I’m a committed Edmontonian and a long time Edmonton booster, if someone from almost anywhere else in the world were to ask me where they should go in Canada for a short winter vacation, it would probably be Vancouver/Whistler or Quebec City/Montreal or Toronto/Ottawa and not Edmonton. For what it’s worth, I think Edmonton is a much better city to live/work in than it is to holiday in.

If you are coming from a warmer place that does not have snow and you want to see that or say the Northern Lights, I don't think Vancouver or Toronto would be the best place to go.

Yes, Whistler is nearby if you are a skier, but not all people from warmer places would be up for that. I think that was part of the rationale for this list and they are also looking beyond the usual tourist spots.
