Looking forward to seeing how some different product types like the Malmo stacked townhomes and some future low rise condo/apartment buildings help get this area going.

It will be nice when Blatchford is opened up more. It's closed up like a fortress with chain link fence around much of its perimeter. You can only access it from a couple side roads off Kingsway Ave as far as I know.

Unfortunately, this is an infill housing development without the benefit of any mature trees. It feels barren. Greisbach did a lot of new planting but they also had a decent amount of mature trees to work with as well as an already established public school, and then they built a new one early on to replace it. That was a big selling point for families.

Blatchford has some nice views of downtown though. The hangar development will be a nice boost for the area and of course it will have great lrt access to all post secondary institutions and city amenities.

With more construction this year, more houses going up, it will look better and better. As trees grow up it won't look so barren. I hope they get the pedestrian and road links towards LRT built this year to slowly tie things together.

I agree, it is a big space to fill and the last few years haven't been the greatest for the city. As it fills in more, it will become more appealing and I think pick up momentum.

I try to stop in once every few weeks and yes it is a bit slower but I think things are moving along at an ok pace, definitely not at dubtime. Progress is visible.

Edmonton should be placing a higher priority on getting Blatchford and other inner city areas developed over the outer edges of the city.

I do think more urgency is needed. The same way we talk about accelerating the bike implementation from 15 years to 5 due to climate goals, our development (arguably to a greater extent) needs the same aggression. Individual carbon footprints for these massive infill neighbourhoods are likely quite a bit lower than new suburbs on average.

Well then if Blatchford needs to be accelerated than should NAIT also be told to speed up their plans into Blatchford lands. Their contributions on the east side are going to be significant, aren't they?
