Downtown

Nourishment for thought.

Central Toronto functions a little like this as they already have 'superblocks' in place (i.e. Dundas - Bathurst - Queen - Spadina).

They've been going hard on the interior demo over the past week on this one too. This will be a big boost to dead ol' 105 st.

Art installation around Churchill Square; lots of people checking them out.

This is proof that activating streets and public places is not too hard! Went for a drive yesterday after 10pm and going through downtown, there was a significant amount of people in Churchill checking this out, taking pictures, etc...
Friday night, it's not even summer yet, the place is usually dead and uninviting and yer, there was over 50 people there.

Anyone head down yesterday or planning on going today?

It looks like they absolutely nailed it with a good variety of things to do, see, eat and drink.

We are SO going to check this stuff out when the weather gets a little nicer on Wednesday!

I checked out wapos exhibit, 104 st, and rode through Churchill Sq. Great to see a good number of people all over that area. I also signed out a few of Don Iveson's fresh find recommendations at the library - on urban planning issues. Decided to finally give Jane Jacob's book a read, too.

I've read that more cities are closing off streets on weekends - I'd like to see more of that here, too. 104 street was great.

But the chickadees were gone todsy when I rode past. They were there yesterday.

Maybe the chickadees lost the wind out of their sails out of concern for the weather that was supposed to blast through today. Hopefully they will be back.

There's got to be a good joke about preventing too much "wind beneath their wings" or something like that Maybe @archited could provide one? :)
