$1,000/year seems very high for a fitness facility. I know if I lived Downtown still I wouldn't be paying that.

I think @Greenspace was referring to the number of members, not cost.
It likely didn't help matters that the Y remained closed for 1.5 years during the pandemic while the other gyms re-opened.

Speaking of downtown gyms, a little birdie told me that the GoodLife in Commerce Place is opening in November.

I like the curved canopies, provide shelter and also reference the rest of the building. Great lighting.

How does that design "reference" the existing building? Frankly I can not see a single element that is cohesive. In fact the new canopy facade showcases just how dated those balconies are.

Lots. The curved concrete panels on the balconies, the rounded glass elements. Lots that it's referencing, while the curve on the canopy directs the good lighting required for pedestrian oriented retail.

Don't know if this was posted, but there is an approved development permit for a 47 seat Bar and Neighbourhood Pub with Minor Amusement Establishment, Indoor Participant Recreation Service (VR Activity) for Eaux Claire Estates. (Sept 22/22)
