Downtown

Great to hear.

I just hope more of them explore further and discover Downtown. The impact is actually relatively small overall at this point and has the potential to be significant.

I'd say those numbers indicate many people are here. But there is no reason to go to city centre mall or Ice District or 104 st or Jasper Ave or Rice Howard Way to shop - there is nothing.

The rock climbing gym on 105 Ave does well. Not sure about the rec arena next to Rogers. In terms of activity, what else is there. MacEwan has their sport and wellness centre.

To eat/drink, that's a different story - many more choices.

We have such low aspirations as a city for our downtown. It doesn't have to be one or the other (mall vs. street front). We could try be like other Canadian cities with healthy downtowns that have both.

Feels like there is a lot of opportunity for housing and amenities in the warehouse district so nicely located between MacEwan and Norquest.

The Crap Room on 104 is open now and the fake reviews are pilling up. They also appear to have reported a 1 star review and had it removed.

I am sure this business venture will go well.

Bad reviews are probably fake as nobody is an actual customer there.

"We have such low aspirations as a city for our downtown". I'm not buying this. I think most of us aspire to have a downtown that is safe, clean, vibrant, amenity rich, streets full of people, no empty store fronts, people wanting to live and work there....I'd go on but I've got a migraine aura coming on.

“We have such low aspirations” is more a knock on the executive leaders and major stakeholders of our city. Not this forum.

A great example is listening/reading content by a group like Edify. Which strongly represents some major thinking patterns of our key players.

It’s suburban, small town, and out of touch is many ways vs how you hear similar people talk in cities like Vancouver or Toronto. Yet these people run our institutions.

No idea what they'd be doing here. Maybe LRT related?

I have no interest in visiting that place 🤣
Why not? The reviews are amazing for it. Check these two out from "Gill Sher" and "Jyoti Gill". Even though they posted their reviews on the same day, their names both have "Gill" in them, and they both misspelled "visit" as "vist", I can assure you that these are 100% authentic reviews from two totally different people.

I walked by the Tap Room twice on Friday night (before and after my dinner at Bernadette's, which was outstanding, btw -- I cannot recommend it enough). Place was totally empty except for the same two employees who were sitting at the bar.
