Downtown Crime

While we're talking about downtown crime, let's not forget about crimes against fashion. Ill-fitting suits with garish colors, slim-fit chinos and dress sneakers, whimsical socks... need I go on?

People love my whimsical socks! They are an excellent conversation starter.

I wear whatever I'm comfortable in. I don't need some fashion nazi to tell me what's in or out.

Sounds like advice from someone who has lived the Montreal life!

I don't wear socks at all (feet get too hot). Otherwise bluejeans and Hawaiian shirts with a brown leather fedora and light green suede shoes, no matter the weather (I don't like to be cowed by meteorologists).

No one is telling you what to wear they are saying you have no taste. 😏

Let me clarify: if you want to wear whimsical socks with your regular casual button-down and chinos, fine. If you're tempted to wear them with a business suit, please reconsider.

I've worn novelty socks with formal wear for years - I agree with Gronk that it's a great conversation starter.

Writing this at my desk, while wearing socks similar to these:

I've never played pickleball in my life.

Not quite - there's some social nuance. I think that it can be explained by asking if/why this is funny:

The conversation that this shirt might start likely wouldn't be about German Shepards or lobsters.
I think the risk with the pickleball socks is that the conversation it starts might actually be about pickleball.
