Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

The west wide 111 St shared-use path south north of 37 Ave (Greenfield) appears to be approaching, if not complete now.

You can now pretty much ride continuously between Century Park station and Harry Ainlay without crossing the street on a nice, wide asphalt path. Then you can connect to the Royal Gardens shared-use path to go west, or towards the pedestrian bridge over the Whitemud.

Since I live in Ward O'day-min, I checked out candidate responses in Taproot survey to the active transportation question:

What action would you be most likely to advocate for on bike lanes?

1. Build only what has already been planned.
2. Build more than is planned.
3. Build less than is planned.
4. Skip this question

This is in Calgary but thought it was worth posting because the line painting job is baffling. The traffic calming median almost looks too big for vehicles to navigate with parked cars - winter will be more of a challenge.

Why are we not pouring real concrete medians????

Surely this isn’t that much cheaper, especially when you factor in how easily they break.

These will be easier to remove this way…

When they did neighbourhood renewal a couple of years ago they could have extended the permanent concrete one more block to 82ave at least.
