Beaver Hills House Park & Michael Phair Park Renewal

Right? The only thing really wrong with it is its location. It would be a good centrepiece to an actual park somewhere walkable... like Beaver Hills House Park. 🤔
A lot of the public art here is either modest or not that impressive. I'm not sure why that is the case, but I suspect it may have to do with budgets and money. We should more look to places like Chicago for good examples.

The Talus Dome is actually something that is neither modest or unimpressive, but in the location it is, unfortunately appreciation seems to be lost on it by many who quickly go by.

Called into 311 today as none of the sidewalks on the perimeter (including MPP on 104st) have been shovelled. Assuming the contractor is responsible, but it irks me to no end that prominent sites like this are not cleared.

Yeah there overall seems to be a bit of a lackadaisical attitude on this project. I don't get why the Jasper Ave sidewalk detour had to last for over a month given how dangerous it was for pedestrians. Far as I could tell all they did was remove the sidewalk pavers, maybe regrade it a bit (if even?) and then some minor utility work. City should have told them you have a week max. We shouldn't tolerate this in the centre of Downtown on our most prominent avenue.

Also, there seems to be zero rush on getting the 105 st sidewalk segment completed. Look at Gronk's pics--there was six weeks between these pictures and all they seemingly got done was running some conduit. I get this was always going to be closed till next year but they had unseasonably great weather and squandered it.

Looks like the site sidewalks are inside the construction fence so not accessible by the public.

Correct for the 105th st sidewalk. Just irked by the lack of progress despite the good weather. Six weeks of progress this fall meant it could have opened six weeks earlier next summer.

No response as of yet.

It's because they don't care about your petty complaint, Ian. How dare you waste their time with this nonsense. :p

@IanO is an important and influential cat with contacts in high places. If 311 can't even be bothered with him then they may as well just close shop and save some taxpayers money.

Unfortunately, this is just another example of how unresponsive the city has become to citizens over the last several years.

Less about being unresponsive and more about not having a plan or being prepared.
