Around Edmonton

Everyone was gathering around to watch another cable going up on that bridge.

A walk around the River Crossing area in West Rossdale - the Power Plant and RE/MAX field. The whole area has incredible potential and the opening of the Walterdale Bridge has really helped me to realize that, focusing my attention there.
It's nice to hear that the Ortona Armoury is getting a rehabilitation, then the occasional resi proposals pops-up here and there, but what I really hope for is that Rossdale will finally realize a major renewal (over the next few years). Either the Highline project (not quite Rossdale, but flows/connects), Touch the Water Promenade, Praire Sky, RE/MAX Feild, etc. A major impetus to bring needed life and connection for Rossdale and the rest of the city. The neighbourhood potentially ties in so many important components of the city/river valley. Thanks Walterdale. For far too long, "Rossdale" has just functioned as a collection of major arteries to help people travel through one end to the other, well for me anyway. It is such a beautiful, quaint little neighbourhood with stunning skyline and expansive river valley views. My outlook still is that it's important to see some comparable new residential development there soon, but that's not enough to connect a neighbourhood in my opinion. I bet a lot of its current residents would love to have Rossdale remain the hidden gem that it is (and keep the expressways moving everyone else on by).

Great photos @Kaizen . Totally agree on the Rossdale potential. This area has sat in its current underutilized/unrealized form for way too long - for as long as I can remember (early 1970s).
Here are a couple more shots of the power plant and bridge.

Every time I have walked or driven past this hill south of the bridge there has been groups of people just sitting and suntanning/picnicking on the slope. Is this becoming a "thing"? If it is becoming a "thing" then I love it. Great spot to hang out on a nice, sunny afternoon. The family went for a walk around there the other night and while it wasn't a very nice night weather wise there was still a lot of of people in the area wandering around, biking, on scooters or just hanging out. Loved it!!!

Not sure where to put these two shots. I've always loved these "etchings" on the wall to the east of the main entrance to the old RAM. I wonder if they could do this on one of the big, blank walls of the new RAM (west side, just north of the main entrance or somewhere on the north side)?
