Was good turnout prior to Oilers game. Councillors Rutherford and Salvador were there.
What a difference the new infrastructure makes to this area. Kudos to the city on this one.
And lots of empty street parking still available, ha.

A parents group put this together. The 132 Ave project is only half way done (2027), but the goal was to highlight it's importance in providing a safe, viable way for kids to get around with 12 schools in and around the stretch from Fort Road to 127st - especially with UCP threatening to stop the project.
But it's also a major improvement to the look and feel of the neighbourhoods here - new boulevards, lots of new trees and not having such a wide roadway through area full of schools, rec centres etc.
I went to O'Leary HS along here - so much better now.

The portions of 132 Ave that are complete look great. I really expect the community to appreciate this over time. As you can see, a lot of street parking available off to the left in this pic. It was all empty on Sunday.
Trees on both sides of bike path will create a beautiful canopy over time - makes for such a pleasureable ride.

I see Ashley Salvador 3 bikes ahead, and that's me on the far right walking along when my bike suffered a flat tire.
I was running along side my 2 year old who was briefly leading your group.

Ugh, I just received a form letter response from the transportation minister re: bike lane removal. It's astonishing how these people can shift language to attempt to tweak reality to reflect their ideology. You'd think 132 Ave was the Yellowhead or similar. And don't get me started on the hypocrisy of endlessly whining about federal overreach and then continuing to overreach into municipal politics. I am so deeply, profoundly sick of these clowns. And if that guy is an honourable anything, Imma eat my hat.

There is an argument that "key urban roadways which connect to the provincial road network" should be made as efficient as possible. 132 Ave is not one of them.

I got my Nenshi sign yesterday.
We need to support and spread positive messages about candidates who support active transportation and smart city building during the municipal election this fall.
Then we need find a way to get a new provincial government whenever the next elections rolls around. Although that will be harder as new support will need to come from outside Edmonton!

I did respond with roughly that line. And added my two cents' worth on their incessant bitching about overreach while engaging in it every chance they get. I'm sure I'll be on some blacklist when the dark times come. As an aside, I honestly feel like I should be sending any mental-health-related bills to the province cause they're plenty responsible for it, and I know it's not just me.
