Is it by the MAIN entrance (near the Oiler store and the oft-closed entry to the main floor bar) or by the hidden entrance w stairs to the South ? Funny thing is, not all of their staff seem to know about it because I asked several people with duh answers in return...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Yes, I thought at the time that the diagonal station option (which had an associated third track to store an extra train to help with exiting from major Rogers, etc events IIRC) would have been a much better option.

That is what I've seen and I think both aspects are pretty unprofessional and/or poorly planned... - no access thru the main entrance (need to go find a fairly well camouflaged "other" entrance) - no elevator or escalator to a rooftop patio (I guess if they want a young crowd, this helps...

Well thought out the way it helped show off Downtown Edmonton, being the main entrance to the Ice Plaza during the Stanley Cup playoffs when there are lots of out-of-towners in for the games. At least Bob & Doug had a good view of what wasn't happening...

    Car-Free Streets

For some of us that live in buildings with parking access in the lanes that connect to 102 Ave it is quite necessary (similarly for delivery and service vehicles) - it's going to be "choked" enough as it is with the reduction to 1 lane in only 1 direction from 2 lanes in each direction (4 lanes...

I don't know that a crosswalk would have much benefit to it. And that's not even considering the cost, both in $ and traffic issues. If the intent is to get to Rogers for an event, use the WinterGarden (Ford Hall) as intended. If the intent is other pedestrian circulation in the area...

    Miscellaneous

I wonder how many might be changing to the "edge-mounted" design (like Sky and Encore) which, rather than attaching the railing to the top of the balcony slab (eating into the usable space) attaches to the edge of the slab, opening up more livable space. Can be a significant difference in room.

I'm confused, are you saying Westrich is "one of the worst offenders" due to the 106 Street site ? (this is the thread you posted this on) For one thing, that photo primarily shows an unrelated site - is the CofE (waiting to start the Whse District Park) one of the worst offenders ? And...

Maybe Corona should be re-named Park station in co-ordination with the Warehouse District Park

    Jasper and 115 Street | 170m | 52s | Greenlong | ACAI

I'm thinking that's some marketing - get people to see what you want them to... If this happens as 2-tower developments usually do, shortest tower first, then one-up themselves with Tower 2, well, they went from what was 37 and 48 storey towers to what appears to be 28/29 and 50/51 storey...

    The Hudson | 108m | 33s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

Oh no, we wouldn't want to infringe on the separation from the Langham Falcon 1... not like the Fox 2 separation from Fox 1, which was deficient by 18-ish metres.

    Scotia Place Reclad | 113.08m | 28s | Kasian

Actually, in that way it is fortunate that instead of the additional branch that the original post by DTYEG said he expected, this move to Ice District opens up a space for more helpful pedestrian traffic usage on Jasper Ave in the old space.

    The Edmonton Elks - CFL

In a historical perspective, the city hall is also a good case study of well-intended but ridicule-able first concepts... remember the cone-head jokes !

    The Edmonton Elks - CFL

Considering the architecture of our city hall, appropriate for this site, it really should be the Edmonton Egyptians - of course, that's out of the frying pan and into the fire...

I originally liked Eclipse but do we really want a future full of "mooning" jokes ? Eagles !

I would simply point out that both of those stores (City Market - Brewery and Safeway - Oliver Sq) are MUCH larger stores than the City Market - Ice District which is, as noted before, not that much larger than the small Sobeys that existed at Jasper and 104. Both have good deli areas but that...

Maybe not for you but for anyone in the 103/104 Street north of Jasper (various lofts, Icons, Century, Foxes, Ultima, Encore, Legends, Sky, etc - huge market) this City Market will be much, much more convenient - less than two blocks away from many of those ! I consider baking, meats, veg and...

Are you referring to two floor levels or is this a reference to level in another context ? If it's architectural, I've never seen any plan showing more than the one level (2nd floor) for the City Market. There is a small entry space on the main floor but really just access to the escalators...

^^^ well, right back at ya ;-) You make it sound like I'm advocating for a huge Walmart or Superstore - that's completely misconstruing my comments. How big do you think the TOTAL sf of the grocery space in BG is ? By my estimation, it is perhaps 35% larger than the Sobeys on Jasper...
