    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I saw this morning that AMA Travel is offering a charter direct flight from Edmonton to Tokyo in April (cherry blossom season). $1450 https://www.amatravel.ca/travel-promotions-contests/edmonton-to-tokyo-direct-flight

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

This has been done in other malls and needs to happen here. And yes, I would go and know others who would, too. Also indoor kids playground and other activities. Is that indoor bike park also still happening in the previous Sport Chek space?

    ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

I like the arches in this fan park. Not a fan of the building though. That south elevation needs a face-lift, although I guess that's the back of the building.

I saw a sign that Book Boudoir is moving into OE2 next to Kind Ice Cream. It's currently located in Manchester Square. https://www.bookboudoir.ca/

    Municipal Politics

For commuting it's 2%, but more people tend to use their bikes than that figure outside of going to work. Globally, 60% of all urban trips are less than 5km. A quarter are shorter than 1km and of those, half are travelled by vehicle. So much opportunity to relieve congestion, reduce parking...

    Neighbourhood Renewal

It's my least favorite option of the 5 presented, but I recognize a variety of options have to be provided that take into account different considerations including parking. Other options limit or eliminate parking altogether.

I'd say a good amount is now being invested in transit/lrt.

    Municipal Politics

Regarding the downtown investment plan, I heard Alex Hyrciw from the Downtown Recovery Coalition say two areas the city can't afford to put money in is Blatchford and the bike lanes ("not a need to have"). She also went on to say $180 million on bike lanes on the Ryan Jespersen Show which is of...

    Falcon Towers | 170m | 44s | Langham Developments | Arc Studio

Since this did work out well, I wonder why developers/downtown boosters didn't advocate for this same grant structure again, which didn't require the city to pay out any money from its budget. Instead, when they came back to council for support, they focused on a grant per sq.ft and that didn't...

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Does anyone know if these two routes along 23 Ave that were part of the 2024 active transportation network are complete? 23 Avenue (50 Street to 85 Street) 23 Avenue (111 Street to 119 Street) They didn't get started until August - kind of late in the year.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

The progress the city made on 2024 was a bit underwhelming. All the projects were basically sidewalk widening like on 66st or 153Ave and basically nothing was done in these areas. I don't think the city even completed 10km of sidewalk widening. With more work planned for 2025 and 2026 compared...

    Edmonton Oilers

Into Q2 of the season now. Oilers off season trades and player loses are notable. After McDavid and Draisaitl, McLeod (6) Foegele (6) and Holloway (6) would all be #3 in goal scoring on the Oilers (tied with Bouchard) - well ahead of Skinner, Arvidsson, Hyman, RNH and everybody else. Broberg...

    Hat @ Old Strathcona | 66.14m | 20s | Cidex Group

Will be interesting to see how that comes together. Those two sides of that particular elevation don't seem to complement each other that well.

    The Mercury Block | 21.7m | 6s

Looks like a clothing pop-up is opening up soon in the southeast retail bay. Still no activity in the 3 leased spaces - no retrofitting work started.

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

You also have to factor in cost and time to get to the train from your home. That could add an extra 30 minutes plus cost. And when you come back home, the same thing.

    Municipal Politics

The Principled Accountable Coalition for Edmonton (PACE) and TAPYeg, two conservative-leaning groups that have announced their intentions to form municipal political parties for the 2025 Edmonton election, say they will merge under the PACE banner. Given some of the people behind these parties...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I will be surprised if that much capacity on the same days/times for 3 days/week survives. If the two flights were on opposite days, that would be more beneficial for Edmonton as it's more choice of flights. Hope I'm wrong.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Why is United retaliating? This is a flight that they were not previously offering. So if WJ offers it, why is that a threat to them?

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

I wonder how many years it will be for Edmonton to have its next multi-family, mid-density type development that isn't rentals in the downtown/wihkwentowin communities? I'd also like to see some townhome type projects incorporated of various sizes.
