    T5M Connect | ?m | 2s

This project seems to be a microcosm of what I find infuriating about the public consultation on projects. It is very easy (for various reasons) for people who already live nearby to voice their displeasure with a project, but the people who would eventually live in the project aren't able to...

On the property sales map, lot "G" is the only mixed use lot not listed for sale. The corner cutout at the traffic circle matches the cutout on the design as well.

Not high quality but I did manage to snag a picture of the proposed mixed use building. You might have to squint, as I don't have CSI's enhance magic. Also it sounds like more builders are going to be announced soon, so I imagine things are really going to start hopping.

Not photo worthy updates from Blatchford: Sidewalks and bike lanes along Alpha boulevard are chugging along and pretty much complete. Construction is going hard on the west Phase 2 lots. Sewer, water, and DES mains are being flown in daily A Blatchford presentation center appeared overnight...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

From my own experience, there are a number of factors at play. 1) Labour costs are very local, and in Alberta they are significantly higher than many other places in the world 2) Material costs, especially on design-build jobs, are out of your control so labour costs are one of the few ways to...

    Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

On my walk last night, I noticed piling rigs were now set up at what I assume is the Blatchford North stop. The future NAIT station has also been fenced off at this time.

Took a stroll around the new hood. Over by the lake we saw a nesting Canada goose, as well as ducks, and seagulls. The geese and seagulls were having a noisy turf war, so we didn't linger on the pier too long. Over by the control tower there is a new sidewalk stylized to look like the old...

    Neighbourhood Renewal

Hopefully they also re-jig the traffic flow on 110th between 82nd and 87th ave. On the current bike lane, there are stop signs at every crossing which is antithetical to encouraging more people to use the bike lanes.

    Introduce Yourself

Probably too early days to say too much about life here so far, it's dirt immediately in front and behind our place so for sure still feels like a construction site. That said, the smallness of the population here so far does seem to be creating a community feel. People were waving to us as we...

    Army & Navy Redevelopment | ?m | 6s | Edgar

Wow. The first iteration was good, but the update is now a real looker. Hopefully this is enough to overcome the "curse" on that corner.

It looks like Mutti has broken ground on their Modern Farmhouse development, and it looks like more utilities are being trenched in on the northwest side of Yorke. There is also work going on around the Fane road area, although I have not wandered by to check it out.

    Introduce Yourself

Hey all. Now that life has settled back down, I have time to properly introduce myself. Grew up just outside of Edmonton, and studied at the U of A, before moving away after graduation. Lived in Vancouver, where I worked on the Sea to Sky and Highway 1/ Port Mann Bridge expansion projects, then...

    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Just a rough estimation but the currently available lots cover ~450m, and from the south east end on that image it's only another ~350m. Assuming no phased opening of the LRT extension there is another four years to get there. From a purely selfish perspective I hope one of the mixed use plots...

Was just browsing around on realtor.ca as one is wont to do, and noticed that there are now the rest of the phase 1 lots up for sale. The listings also show a bit more of the phase 1 plans.

Snark aside, it is nice to see this area filling in. Hopefully a sign of momentum in the Quarters

Oh come on, that's an A in a Grade 10 Intro to CAD course any day.

    Miscellaneous

Looks like there is some activity at the SW corner of 70th ave and 109 street after sitting empty for quite a while. Fenced off with a site office and some excavation going on

I didn't see it posted yet but the city has released a bit more of a granular view of the full Blatchford build out here. A couple photos from my recent visit. The first is the skyline from my future back deck. And I didn't notice before but Energy Center One is illuminated with colour...
