    Stantec Tower | 250.84m | 66s | ICE District Prop.

My hypothesis is that Katz's ego thought the tower would be such a resounding success that they would inevitably build a taller one in phase two, so why bother.

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

Paywalled, but I can guess. Likely there are lots of market rate rentals, there is very little at the bottom of the market. The increase in housing costs has not been felt equally at all levels, the cheaper units have all but disappeared. Housing for folks/families making minimum wage, on income...

    Arc Smart Fare System

Wait, does the tap to pay also include using your phone as an arc card? That's what I really want.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Got unlucky with a particularly persnickety driver? Hope it's not some new policy that would shrink capacity.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Weird, a bunch of us definitely stood for the whole ride when I took it last in September.

    Old Royal Alberta Museum

It's always important to remember that the NDP are NOT urbanists. Many of their most powerful supporters are old school inner city elites who are strong NIMBYs. Many urbanists are NDP supporters but the party is ambivalent at best about urban policies.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Moral of the story: Suburbites can't be trusted. 😉

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I get the logic behind trying to reduce traffic delays by having the train use regular signals instead of crossing harms. But as the massive rise in collisions, injuries, and pedestrian fatalities show: Edmonton drivers are too stupid to be trusted with lights. Time for crossing arms at all...

    La Piazza | ?m | 1s | McCauley Development Co-Op

I had high hopes for the co-operative. The timing was absolutely catastrophic, and completely out of their control. It still has made a big difference in the community. Paper Birch Books in particular is a gem!

    Stollery Children's Hospital

I am very glad we are getting a new Stollery. The current one saved my Brother-in-Laws life and desperately needs expanding. However, this is the government that planned the breakup of AHS on the back of a napkin with a "we'll figure it out later" approach. They botched lab services, and they...

    Stollery Children's Hospital

I can understand the location choice, but it's definitely rooted in suburban car centric thinking. A hospital does not need to spread out this much, you can build up instead of wide. The complaints in a few years are so predictable "Why do they charge for parking to visit sick kids, it's evil!"...

    Stadium Yards | ?m | 6s | Rohit Communities

That's a pretty valid thought for their particular niche. Part of the reason I think a Frank's style place would be a better fit for stadium yards. That being said, there are a bunch of cool older commercial buildings around the area that could make a sweet pub with some imagination. A bunch...

    Alberta Politics

"We are pleased to announce an additional x million dollars for planning to be complete in 2027 with the build to be funded in the 2028 budget (if Edmonton votes for us)"
